"True Haunting" By Edwin F. Becker

I just finished reading "True Haunting" By Edwin F. Becker and I have to say I found it very interesting to read. While it's easy and quick to read, it is very well written; the fear and frustration that Ed and Marsha Becker experienced while dealing with the home that the bought is clear. If you would like to read into what the book is about, please click here.

While the story is primarily told from Ed's side (considering he is the author of the book), he expresses Marsha's experiences and fear very well. I think that the book is very well written and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in researching the paranormal or is having something going on in their home. This book shows the struggles a family can have in regards to coming out to family and/ or friends about their home possibly being haunted. Sure we see people on TV with haunted homes and business' but these TV shows never really discuss or show the struggle of having to find help or come out to family or the comments of people saying that you are crazy and you're just getting used to living in your new home. While I do believe that in most cases paranormal experience IS just a case of getting used to a new place or not thinking through logical explanations. If there are allot of power lines near your home, the energy from that can affect the human brain and body and cause paranormal activity (it can also increase activity as well if the home truly is haunted). Also, if there is a carbon monoxide leak somewhere in your home or business, that can also cause people to believe that are having paranormal experiences.

One of the things that got me thinking in this book is that the exorcism that was performed on the home at the time had failed. Mainly because exorcisms don't work on spirits, they only work on demons. While there was supposedly an evil entity at this home, that doesn't mean that it was a demon. I took notice that at this time, at least according to the book, the beckers never tried to rid the ghosts other than with the exorcism, which by today's standards (at least in my mind) is kind of odd. While I do think that there are spirits that can't be driven out of a home (although I don't think it's always necessary), I find it interesting that the Becker's didn't try another route in regards to ridding the home of the spirits. The paranormal was still very taboo at this time and wasn't openly discussed as it is today though. So it is very possible that the paranormal investigation team they had in to look at the home didn't know any other way of ridding the home because it's possible the team had no one else to consult with and brainstorm other ideas. Paranormal investigation has come along way both in regards to research and becoming more socially acceptable, especially over the last 10 years than it did at the time the Becker's were having their experiences. While there is still a lot of disagreements and misunderstandings, it is a lot easier to figure out how to deal with paranormal activity in your home today.

Hi again, So I wanted to talk to you all about the demon(s) that have attacked and tormented me for months on end. I remember one night when my spirit guide warned me that they were coming, I thought she was being silly and ignored her warnings. That’s when the nightmares began, the same dream over and over again; a wolf type figure with red eyes telling me it was going to hurt me. I let this go on for a few months, then one night I woke up; I couldn’t move it was like someone or something was sitting on me. Between a few friends we came up with a few ideas of what it was that was attacking/tormenting me.

A few months after determining the few things that it could possibly be, I somehow became possessed by this demon figure; not once, not twice... 3 times. several times happened during webcam sessions with my friend and co-blogger Emily Griffin.
After these possessions that happened, I finally somehow banished the demon, or so I had thought. I still occasionally sense the demon outside my window, but it cannot seem to pass through into my room anymore.

Collective unconsciousness

The idea of a universal mind (or universal consciousness or collective consciousness or Collective unconscious) is a fascinating subject to me. The universal mind is the universal higher consciousness where we subconsciously connect with other beings around the world.  Collectively, as humans, we can predict when almost any type of major event is going to happen.

When I was at a paranormal event with the Paranormal Research Society a couple of months ago, tech specialist, Sergey Poberezhny was discussing the concept of collective unconsciousness with us and was talking about something called the “Random Event Generator (REG),” which is supposed to help us explore the direct impact of consciousness on the physical world. Research has been done for over a decade now with the REG and there are currently over 60 active eggs in the network in areas including Europe, the US, Canada, India, Fiji, New Zealand, Japan, China, Russia, Brazil, Africa, Thailand, South America, Australia. The hypothesis is that the REG will show some sort of anomaly deviations associated with major global events when there’s major participation or some sort of major reaction to the event; such as 9/11.

While the REG basically flips 200 coins a second to generate random numbers on the graph, it is supposedly affected by the collective unconscious to help “predict” the future. While I personally doubt that a piece of technology can really predict the future and some of the studies have been very far off, I do think that as creatures on this earth, both human and otherwise are connected somehow subconsciously.

I think that this concept of a universal mind plays into people having psychic abilities as well as religion and spirituality; which I believe the paranormal and religion/ spirituality go hand in hand. As I have sat down and thought through the concept of collective unconsciousness, my thought process lead me to this hypothesis; so many people believe in an almighty God, Gods or some sort of higher being that is separate from humans. That there is some big, invisible God out there in the universe that we can’t hear, see, smell or touch but what if WE are God? In theory, I think collectively as humans, we are God because according to many faiths, God is everywhere, in everything and (from what I learned in Sunday school as a child) is IN us.

This is just a theory I have but please feel free to discuss and disagree with me down in the comments below.
I was discussing this with a friend of mine and she told me about this story on tumblr. I don’t know who wrote it and I do not take credit for this story, but it gets the point that I’m trying to make across. Please don’t feel like I’m trying to change your beliefs in any way, because I’m not. You just cannot talk about the paranormal, without talking about spirituality.

You were on your way home when you died.

It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.
And that’s when you met me.

“What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?”

“You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.

“There was a… a truck and it was skidding…”

“Yup,” I said.

“I… I died?”

“Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said.

You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. “What is this place?” You asked.

“Is this the afterlife?”

“More or less,” I said.

“Are you god?” You asked.

“Yup,” I replied. “I’m God.”

“My kids… my wife,” you said.

“What about them?”

“Will they be all right?”

“That’s what I like to see,” I said. “You just died and your main concern is for your family. That’s
good stuff right there.”

You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didn’t look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.

“Don’t worry,” I said. “They’ll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didn’t have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If it’s any consolation, she’ll feel very guilty for feeling relieved.”

“Oh,” you said. “So what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?”

“Neither,” I said. “You’ll be reincarnated.”

“Ah,” you said. “So the Hindus were right,”

“All religions are right in their own way,” I said. “Walk with me.”

You followed along as we strode through the void. “Where are we going?”

“Nowhere in particular,” I said. “It’s just nice to walk while we talk.”

“So what’s the point, then?” You asked. “When I get reborn, I’ll just be a blank slate, right? A
baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won’t matter.”

“Not so!” I said. “You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don’t remember them right now.”

I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. “Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly imagine. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. It’s like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it’s hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you’ve gained all the experiences it had.
“You’ve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven’t stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, you’d start remembering everything. But there’s no point to doing that between each life.”

“How many times have I been reincarnated, then?”

“Oh lots. Lots and lots. An in to lots of different lives.” I said. “This time around, you’ll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD.”

“Wait, what?” You stammered. “You’re sending me back in time?”

“Well, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I come from.”

“Where you come from?” You said.

“Oh sure,” I explained “I come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know you’ll want to know what it’s like there, but honestly you wouldn’t understand.”

“Oh,” you said, a little let down. “But wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point.”

“Sure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you don’t even know it’s happening.”

“So what’s the point of it all?”

“Seriously?” I asked. “Seriously? You’re asking me for the meaning of life? Isn’t that a little stereotypical?”

“Well it’s a reasonable question,” you persisted.
I looked you in the eye. “The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature.”

“You mean mankind? You want us to mature?”

“No, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect.”

“Just me? What about everyone else?”

“There is no one else,” I said. “In this universe, there’s just you and me.”
You stared blankly at me. “But all the people on earth…”

“All you. Different incarnations of you.”

“Wait. I’m everyone!?”

“Now you’re getting it,” I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.

“I’m every human being who ever lived?”

“Or who will ever live, yes.”

“I’m Abraham Lincoln?”

“And you’re John Wilkes Booth, too,” I added.

“I’m Hitler?” You said, appalled.

“And you’re the millions he killed.”

“I’m Jesus?”

“And you’re everyone who followed him.”

You fell silent.

“Every time you victimized someone,” I said, “you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.”

You thought for a long time.

“Why?” You asked me. “Why do all this?”

“Because someday, you will become like me. Because that’s what you are. You’re one of my kind. You’re my child.”

“Whoa,” you said, incredulous. “You mean I’m a god?”

“No. Not yet. You’re a fetus. You’re still growing. Once you’ve lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born.”

“So the whole universe,” you said, “it’s just…”

“An egg.” I answered. “Now it’s time for you to move on to your next life.”
And I sent you on your way.

Life with Alex Rodregez

Around the middle of July of 2012 I began to experience something paranormal, it started out small like knocking and then one night in august I heard it. Someone was talking to me, it was a little girl asking me for help. I told her I wished for her to leave and she told me that she could not do that. I learned at that time that she was my spirit guide (Yes I know strange that a little girl be my spirit guide?) which I now would not know what to do without her.

We had several ideas of what it could have been or who it could have been, the first idea we had was it could have been a demon which is why we tried to cast the bitch out (didn't work too well on that note).
then we thought it was my fathers mother (AKA my grandmother who I didn't have a close relationship with), she passed away about 2 years ago. We thought it was her because of type of activity that was going on.

Then I started getting mental images of a young girl in my room, she wore a white sundress with brown or black hair and blue eyes. She was around 6 or 7 years old, and she was about hip high on me. I did some research and discovered that she died of T.B. back in the 18 hundreds with her sister Sylvia and her parents.
Sylvia is very bitter about the way their lives ended and tends to take it out on those around her, she made several attempts at tormenting me but was unsuccessful at these attempts.

Alex (My spirit guide) is still with me to this day, in fact she says hi but will not appear to see you any time soon as she is very shy. But know she is watching you even if she doesn't show herself to you.

Sylvia Browne wrong?

Today’s post isn't what I was originally planning on writing for today but I want to put my 2 cents out there on this subject. As you may have heard by now, Sylvia Browne had an incredible inaccurate reading in regards to kidnapped woman Amanda Berry, nearly 10 years ago. She stated to her mother on the Montel Williams show, “She’s not alive, honey.” I’m not going to go into the details of the story but if you would like to read the full story, you can click here for an article that the Huffington post wrote.

I think Katrina Weidman (who was a member of the Paranormal Research Society on the TV show “Paranormal State”) said it best of her official facebook fan page. She stated this, “So if you haven't seen it by now, Slyvia Browne is (once again) taking heat on her not so accurate predictions. Working in this field for several years I'm often asked about the use of psychics to contact loved ones, get information on missing people, etc. Here's my take: 1) there are some very messed up people out there who will fully take advantage of a grieving friend, family member, loved one and take whatever dollar they can get. 2) There are some people who really believe they have a "gift" and will tell you what they believe to be messages from beyond. I've met many people claiming to have this gift and I have to say a lot of them were off the wall crazy. Beware. 3) Then there are people who truly do have a gift, I've seen it in action and have experienced it myself. However, I always find that the psychics who are genuine will tell you upfront "this is what I'm getting, I could be wrong" and they usually stress this over and over again. 4) I tell anyone who is considering working with a psychic to TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT! Even the people who really do have a gift are not going to be 100% accurate with every piece of information. I have seen clients in the past be so desperate for information that they literally cling to every word a psychic says... so is it the clients fault? I think you need to be your own advocate and get recommendations, referrals, and always have in your head that a psychic is not this all knowing mystical being. That being said, in the case of Amanda Berry's mom. I can only say that when someone is so heartbroken and desperate for answers they will turn to anyone. Unfortunately, there will always be people who take advantage of that. Is Slyvia Browne a fraud? Who knows, but it always seems like she causes more harm than good.”

I don’t know if Sylvia Browne is a fraud or not. That is for you to decide. I can tell you from personal experience that you do need to be careful who you choose if you do want to have some sort of reading done. Psychics’/ mediums at your local renn fest or carnival are usually frauds and use simple psychology. You’re just wasting your money in this case, unless you’re doing it for pure entertainment. Then feel free to spend your money. There have been several times when I was able to manipulate what I wanted the psychic to say by changing up my body language or saying certain things. I’m not saying all are frauds, the one’s I’ve happened to run into have said the predictable and vague statements that I expected.

I have had a past life reading from Jessica Jewett a year or two ago, and I feel she was pretty spot on. She was able to tell me a couple of things she couldn’t have possibly known. I’ve heard several other “testimonials” from other people that have had readings from her, and I have not heard a negative word about her.

So, there are frauds and there are legit people out there. You just need to do your research so you can save yourself some possible pain in the future. I know in many cases, such as in the Amanda Berry case, you just want some sort of closure but don't just jump into seeing a psychic or a medium.

A welcome from Rebecca

Hi, I want to begin by saying thank you for reading our blog. Emily and I aren’t professionals in anyway shape or form, we are normal people that just happen to know a little bit about the paranormal world. It has been about a year since I first started experiencing paranormal, I started sensing something unusual in my room with me at around ten in the evening every night; but now is not the time to talk about that.

One of the things we will talk to you about in the next few months is how to be safe while dealing with the paranormal. I didn’t realize that the paranormal could be so dangerous until I became close friends with Emily, I honestly didn’t believe in the paranormal until the recent months in which I have experienced a lot already and learned so much in the short time that I have known Emily.

I hope that you stay tuned for more posts, which will be posted weekly. We plan to post one post each once a week. I (Rebecca) will be posting my blog every Tuesday and Emily will be posting hers every Thursday. every month we each will post our own thoughts on the same subject. Thank you again for reading our blog and hope that we help you with your paranormal issues (If you have any).

Welcome to E.R. Paranormal

Blog entry by: Emily Griffin

Welcome to our new blog, E.R. Paranormal! Rebecca and I have been discussing starting this blog for a few months now and we are very excited to finally be launching it. I’ve had a passive interest in the paranormal since I was about 16 (mostly just watching various paranormal T.V. Shows like most people do) but I’ve but I’ve become seriously interested in it about a year ago while watching “Paranormal State” and started doing my own research. I also have a desire to start my own paranormal team and help educate others in regards to the paranormal. So for me, this is that start of hopefully something big!

I’ve always been one to want to help others somehow and to make a difference in someone’s life in some way. Some people I know say I have but I don’t know, how can one know for sure? Regardless, My passion for wanting to help others deal with their paranormal experiences and to educate other’s on investigation safety, along with many other aspects of the paranormal started when I started to watch “Paranormal State” on Netflix after the show had just finished their final season. I learned through the Penn. State Paranormal Research Society (now just Paranormal Research Society (PRS)) that there is more to “Ghost hunting” than just going into an old abandoned building and harassing spirits for shits and giggles. I never knew that it was more than looking like an idiot on camera trying to get a ghost to somehow make it known by appearing as a mist or knocking on the wall. I learned that normal people can be scared shitless because a spirit has been bothering them in their own home. A child can’t sleep at night because of a witch in the closet. A family is driven out of their own home because of a demon. Whatever the reason, people don’t know what to do in regards to the paranormal and are scared.  People are scared and PRS taught me that you can help people come to terms, help them banish the spirit, reclaim their homes or business’ or whatever needs to be done for the particular case. It’s more than wanting to prove spirits exist. I don’t need to prove to myself or other’s that ghosts, demons, angels, fairies, Fae and elementals exist to anyone. Can I give the reasons for why I believe in these things? Yes but I’m not here to change anybody’s mind, just here to provide the information that I have learned and what I believe to be true.

I wanted to start this blog because I want to share what I have learned and what I will learn in regards to the Paranormal. I am Roman Catholic, so in some cases I will come from a Catholic perspective but I will do my best to do my research in regards to other faiths. You as the reader are more than welcome to disagree with what I post on here. Discussions and constructive criticism is always a positive thing.  I am not claiming to be an expert by any means, I’m far from it. This blog is going to be a process for me to be a part of my learning process and my experiences.

I have had a few paranormal experiences of my own but I’ve only been freaked out a couple times. I have never had a negative experience that I recall, unless you count the usual “monster under the bed” phase from when we are all children. Despite only having minor experiences, they have in their own way played a part in my interest in the paranormal. So, sharing my experiences and knowledge means allot to me and I want to share that with you. I hope you follow me on this journey.

I don’t want to make this post too terribly long, so I am going to wrap it up here. I am very excited about the future of this blog and what is to come.

Do what you will, Harm none,
Emily Griffin
